Investment Plan

Why are deposited funds not invested in ETFs and remain as a cash reserve?

The most common reason is that you own an ETF in your Investment Plan that doesn't have fractional units, meaning the minimum investment amount is significantly higher.

Additionally, the system typically invests about 99% of the deposited funds, with the remaining 1% held as a cash reserve. This is an active buffer to protect orders from rejection due to sudden market price fluctuations at the time of execution.

Another reason could be that your automated investment via bank transfer has not yet been confirmed. During the setup process, the transfer information was displayed before the investment was confirmed in your Investment Plan.

What happens if the sum of instrument weights in my Plan does not equal 100%?

If your custom Plan structure does not sum up to 100%, the unallocated portion of your funds will remain on the Plan's account as uninvested cash. To invest the full amount, simply edit your Plan so that the combined weights of all selected instruments equal exactly 100%.

At what times are Auto-Investments executed?

Funds transferred under the automated investment feature are typically processed and invested in the market between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM local time. (Please note that execution times for individual components may vary depending on when specific European or US exchanges open).

Are dividends from ETFs and stocks in my Plan automatically reinvested?

It depends on the asset type:

  • Accumulating ETFs: Dividends are automatically reinvested inside the fund by the fund manager.

  • Distributing ETFs and Stocks: Dividend payouts are credited as free cash to your Plan's account. They are not automatically reinvested with subsequent deposits. They will only be invested when you manually trigger a rebalancing. Alternatively, you can transfer these funds back to your main account.

Why is the minimum deposit amount for my Plan so high or why did it suddenly increase?

The minimum plan deposit is the sum of the minimum amounts required to purchase each selected instrument according to your defined allocation percentages. If your Plan includes an instrument that does not support fractional units, the overall minimum deposit must be large enough for its allocation share to cover at least one full share/unit.

Example: If an ETF costs $50 and its allocated share in your Plan is set to 5%, the minimum deposit for the entire Plan will be $1,000 (since 5% of $1,000 = $50).

How to lower it: Increase the percentage weight of that specific instrument or replace it with an asset that supports fractional shares.

How do I change the currency of the Investment Plan?

The plan currency is strictly tied to the currency of your main XTB investment account. Once a plan is created, its currency cannot be changed. However, you can set up to 10 different plans per account free of charge.

How does rebalancing work? Do I need to perform it?

Rebalancing in the XTB app is executed exclusively upon request (by tapping the rebalance button in the app) or suggested after editing a Plan’s composition. The system does not perform automatic, periodic rebalancing on your behalf.

I removed an instrument from my Investment Plan, but the positions were not sold. Why?

Removing an instrument from your Plan's composition merely sets its target allocation weight to 0%. It does not trigger an automatic sale of your existing holdings. To sell the removed asset and redistribute the proceeds among your remaining instruments, you need to execute a rebalance after saving your changes.

How do new deposits affect the allocation proportions in my Plan?

Every new deposit is split strictly according to your target percentage weights (e.g., 25% across 4 instruments), regardless of how market price fluctuations may have altered the current value of your existing holdings.

How can I close a single instrument within a Plan and withdraw those funds?

Directly closing a single instrument from a multi-asset Plan is not supported. In this case, you will need to change the percentage allocation of the remaining ETFs in the Plan and perform a rebalancing.

If you wish to fully withdraw your funds from a Plan, you can close the entire Plan in the app. All positions will be sold, and the proceeds will be transferred to your main trading account once execution is finalized.

Can I directly transfer products or funds between my Plan and my main account (or to another Plan)?

Simply transferring positions or funds directly between Plans and the main account (bypassing the Plan deposit/closure process) is not possible.

Can I transfer my existing stocks or ETFs from my main XTB account into an Investment Plan?

Currently, it is not possible to transfer previously purchased stocks/ETFs from your main account (or from another brokerage) directly into an Investment Plan.

Are all products available on XTB supported in the Investment Plans?

No, not all products offered by XTB are available in the Investment Plans. Currently, the plans only allow you to invest in ETFs — we provide access to over 1,800 ETFs for you to choose from.

Where can I check the number of ETFs purchased?

You can check the number of ETFs purchased in the mobile app. Click the profile icon in the upper left corner and select Settings. Scroll down until you find the Equity Assets Overview section. Here you will see a summary of the regulated market assets in your investment account, as well as the number of Investment Plans associated with that account.
